Hello!

Check out my painting videos to see the process.

I find Jodie’s work inspiring, uplifting, and calming. It motivates me to want to paint more!
— Fellow Artist & Client
Jodie’s knife work looks like a jabby collage. I see almost an audacity in her use of a lot of texture.
— St. Louis area Curator
Her work reminds of viewing The Art Institute of Chicago halls of the great Impressionists - their focus on light and color almost to an abstract, including Van Gogh.
— Art Lover & Patron
The way Jodie paints, using texture and choice of composition, invites and draws the viewer into the location to make one feel as if she is actually in that location. Jodie has managed to capture even how the air looks at the east coast with its damp humidity versus the arid west coast.

Jodie, I love all my new art pieces!!! Thank you so much for everything.
— A happy heart
I can’t seem to get enough of Jodie’s work!
— Enthusiastic Patron
Finding something to paint must speak to my heart, like something in the way that light hits a flower or casts shadow; I have to feel God’s presence, the presence of Soul, and God’s love for mankind. I’m responding to what I’m seeing - to the joy, colors, light, composition.

Painting has a visual rhythm like music. It can pop out a little punch of color here and there.
— From the artist
I’ve grown in my understanding of color. Matching goes faster, and I’m quicker to get the right value. Therefore I now take less time to do paintings; they have fewer strokes for correct color or are correct even at first. Earlier my values might not be as realistic.
— From the artist
I know a painting’s done when there are no more questions, when I’m asking no longer about a color or placement, where are dark/light spots, is it balanced, does the painting keep the eye attentive or draw it around the frame.
