I arrived a week ago and was given an overview of all the best spots to paint by my hostess. This was one of my favorites that she showed me that night. The city was all lit up and cradled between the dark hillsides with stars above. Despite just finishing a long day of travel and being exhausted, I couldn't sleep in the next morning. By 6:30am I was up, searching for my paint clothes and out the door. I wanted to be part of the sunrise. I watched as the intensities in the hills shifted from cooler greens to warmer with the rising sun.
A school teacher in the arts, saw me painting and pulled off in a hurry to say hello! His enthusiasm for seeing a landscape painter in action thrilled me. He invited me to be part of an art workshop for his students next spring. I love the camaraderie and joy I feel when painting on location! I get to witness great events in nature... sunrises, people and get to capture what inspires me with abstract expressions in paint to share with others!
After a week of painting, I can barely close my eyes without imagining the scene in front of me or on the back of my mind in paint.
